Segway Jousting

Sure. This might be a lotto advert. But it’s a grand lotto advert.

YouTube Friday: Segway Ballet

So I might resurrect YouTube Tuesday, but on Friday. Here’s today’s submission.

Segways in the Bible

Here’s an idea for a marketing concept for the Segway from Ezekiel 1.

15 Now as I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel on the earth beside the living creatures, one for each of the four of them. 16 As for the appearance of the wheels and their construction: their appearance was like the gleaming of beryl. And the four had the same likeness, their appearance and construction being as it were a wheel within a wheel. 17When they went, they went in any of their four directions without turning as they went. 18And their rims were tall and awesome, and the rims of all four were full of eyes all around. 19And when the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures rose from the earth, the wheels rose. 20 Wherever the spirit wanted to go, they went, and the wheels rose along with them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels. 21 When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those rose from the earth, the wheels rose along with them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.

Segway Soldiers

I’ve never been so proud to be an Australian. Our army is employing Segway robot soldiers. At this stage the Segway robots are only being used for training exercises as target practice:

“Australia based Marathon Robotics have taken Segways and turned them into human-shaped autonomous robots capable of moving around streets and buildings just like people in a crowd! The Marathon bots can act like insurgents, hostages, or civilians, letting armed soldiers practice before being exposed to the real thing. The Australian Department of Defense already has a training camp using the robots, and the US Marine Corps will be establishing one this year. You’ve got to see these robots in action in the video below – this puts all other shooting ranges to shame!”

Here they are in action:

YouTube Tuesday: Monkeys and Segways

I really can’t think of anything interesting to say about this video. It speaks for itself.

4WD Segway

The real reason Segways haven’t taken the world by storm (despite having awesome brand placement on shows like Arrested Development) is that they’re not really all terrain personal transportation devices.

Here’s a handy solution.

Horseplay: with wheels

Ralph Lauren polo shirts are one of those status symbols favoured by the rich and the famous. There’s a rule of thumb that says that the bigger the horse on the shirt the more the wearer is trying to draw attention to their awesomeness (ie the bigger the tool)

Segways are another such status symbol and Polo, the sport, is the last piece of this picture…

This is Apple co-founder “The Woz” playing Segway Polo.

I suggest the Ralph Lauren Polos of the future will feature a logo like this… you heard it here first.

Gyrating Gyroscopes

That title sounds like something Robin might have said to Batman in Adam West’s TV series. But it also appropriately describes the goings on in this French street performance. Featuring brass playing monks riding Segways. You heard it here first. Probably. I heard it here first
