Here’s a five word review: Funniest movie about terrorism ever.
Four Lions is a movie about a group of British Jihadis. Based sort of on a true story – the writer Chris Morris was inspired by the bumbling lunacy he heard and read in the transcript of a trial for some terror suspects in the UK. And this is the result. It is just brilliant. Possibly the funniest movie I’ve ever seen.
This scene was beautiful, and there are plenty just like it.

Coming in at the perfect length (an hour and 12 minutes) this bank robbery caper would have been incredibly cheap to produce – it’s the movie Phone Booth would have been if it was a bank robbery comedy, only it’s got the recently departed David Carradine as the mastermind on the other end of the phone rather than Keither Sutherland (thanks Kutz).
It’s clever, entertaining, and beautifully shot. The script keeps things moving, the jokes are well executed. It’s not long so it’s worth a watch.
The ten tips – for those wondering… (with some slight language modifications)…
Ben (from Vanishing Point fame – not to be confused with occasional guest blogger Benny) says you shouldn’t see the movie “August Rush”. And with a review like this (in the comments of his post) who’d want to:
“This August Rush movie on the other hand thought it was so life-affirming and wonderful, but really was like the demonic love child of Hallmark and Anne Geddes.”
Perhaps a movie for the U2 fans amongst us…
