Dan has started blogging much more frequently – perhaps turning his clever blog name into a misnomer. This can only be a good thing. He’s done a littleseriesrecently on this Hillsong bus ad.
I think Dan’s off the mark. That image wasn’t originally Hillsong’s and I’ve seen it before. I always took it as a come-back to people who say “I don’t believe in God”. Not the type of “believe” Dan’s suggesting.
I disagree. I think Hillsong’s message is that “God believes in you” in a “wants you to succeed” sense. That would be consistent with their prosperity doctrine.

I think you are both right. It is a comeback based on bad theology.
