Ignore all the com­ments on this Red­dit thread and just be com­pletely blown away by the com­plex­ity of our genet­ics against the com­plex­ity of our best technology.

A sin­gle sperm has 37.5MB of DNA infor­ma­tion in it.

An adult male pro­duces 170 mil­lion a day.

That’s 6375 terrabytes of data. If my maths is correct.

Wow.

    1. Evo­lu­tion by nat­ural selec­tion is more that just “ran­dom chance”.
    2. A sys­tem in which 99.99999994% of resources pro­duced are wasted is hardly indica­tive of design. When com­put­ers trans­mit data they don’t pro­duce 6 PB to deliver a 37 MB message.
