A lightbulb moment

Cardboard tube fighting is so passe. All the tough guys are now taking their sporting conflict to the streets with fluorescent tubes. At least in Japan.

Once, at work, after replacing a dead bulb I thought it would be fun to swing the old tube around and ended up whacking it on the big bin outside. They shatter like crazy. I can’t imagine this being good for one’s health.

Some of the pictures at this link are a little disturbing. This is the least disturbing of the bunch.

Pea-ping Toms

No doubt there was a guy named Tom in this competition. And I’m sure when you hit a metallic target it makes a ping. No matter. I think I’d like to travel the world attending obscure championships. Last week it was the cardboard roll fighting league – this week it’s the annual World Peashooting Championships… and yes, that is a laser sight on that guy’s peashooter…

Cardboard Boxing

I like pugilistic endeavours. I haven’t really gotten into the whole Ultimate Fighter thing. But I would (watching not participating). If I thought my wife would let me… that’s neither here nor there.
Did you know that there’s a “Cardboard Tube Fighting Championship“… no? Well now you do – thanks to here. And it looks awesome. Here’s the official site. Anybody want to organise one in Townsville?
