X-rayted consoles

Some guy has decided it would be a good idea to x-ray consoles and their controllers and then put the results on Flickr. He’s probably right. It does look pretty cool.

Let them eat cake

If you want to resign in style perhaps take a leaf out of this guy’s book (from Flickr) and bake your notice of resignation into a cake.

The written message on the icing says:

“Dear Mr. Bowers,

During the past three years, my tenure at the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard has been nothing short of pure excitement, joy and whim.

However, I have decided to spend more time with my family and attend to health issues that have recently arisen. I am proud to have been part of such an outstanding team and I wish this organization only the finest in future endeavors.

Please accept this cake as notification that I am leaving my position with NWT on March 27.

Sincerely,

W. Neil berrett”

This is why you’re fat: deep fried peanut buttered cookie dough brownie edition

This guy’s series of photos on Flickr made it to Digg and This is Why You’re Fat… The popularity of this concept – a deep fried peanut buttered, cookie dough covered brownie ball – perhaps demonstrating once and for all why America has an obesity problem. I guess this is where my toasted mars bar sandwich concept fails. It’s not deep fried.

Street Art: Square peg in narrow alley

This Tetris inspired street art (in Sydney, from Flickr) is awesome. I would like all my belongings to be Tetris inspired. Moving would be a breeze. Robyn would have to be chief moving consultant though – her Facebook Tetris score is still the best of my 600+ friends.

Studying the classics

Ever wondered what the cover of your favourite movies would like as a classic novel. Well, here you go and here’s the Flickr set.

And here’s the visual homage to the movie I based the title of my blog on. Sad really.

The Internet is out to get you…

So says Google. Who today, for a brief moment, applied their “content may harm your computer” disclaimer to every result. Even Google, as noted in the Flickr image below

It’s the ultimate catch all disclaimer. Any website may harm your computer. It’s not surprising that Google have made this strategic decision to avoid law suits. The Bureau of Meteorology has been doing the same thing for years – issuing severe storm warnings at the drop of a hat, just to avoid liability when a storm hits and people weren’t ready.

Incidentally, there’s a category one cyclone bearing down on North Queensland. Batten the hatches. It’s a big one. Maybe. It will hit sometime tomorrow. Maybe. It will intensify. Maybe. You have been warned.

Now is an appropriate time to panic. It’s what everyone else is doing. The mob mentality means massive queues have formed at local shops as people stock up on supplies. Tropical Cyclone Ellie is not even predicted to come that close to Townsville and it’s not particularly likely that flooding will cut of access here at this point in time. Unlike in Cairns. They should panic buy. Who’d want to live there.

Now that I’ve said all this the cyclone will either hit Townsville directly, or by some quirk all the rain it brings will cut off road access and we’ll run out of milk by Tuesday. Better hit the shops. Just in case. And remember. You have been warned. This site may harm your computer.

Life on the far side

Gary Larson’s “The Far Side” is one of my favourite cartoons – it’s up there with Dilbert and Calvin and Hobbes. So when I found this Flickr group dedicated to recreating Far Side scenes in real life – I couldn’t help but share it with you all.

Remember: Electricity can kill

I know. Electricity can be fun. And creating a massive Tesla coil in the backyard sounds like heaps of fun. But electricity is dangerous people. And this guy, Bre Pettis, wants to warn you through this Flickr set.

Be on the lookout for powerlines

Be on the lookout for powerlines

Be careful where you stick that breadknife

Be careful where you stick those scissors

In the beginning

Just over a week ago I posted a link to a Flickr set of endings from movies. It seems fitting then, that I direct you to this website dedicated to opening scenes. A while back, in my blogging hiatus, I read about this guy named Saul Bass – a famous title scene creator – who also designed a bunch of famous corporate logos. I can’t see any of his work on this particular site though – so he’s only relevant because he’s a kind of cool guy.

The End

Not in a dramatic “last post” sense – but this Flickr set contains end scenes from movies.

Useful for all your punctuating needs I guess…

EDIT: Hopefully fixed the link for Dan. And others. Enjoy.
