Lego robot metaphorically smashes Rubik’s Cube

I had a housemate who could solve a Rubik’s Cube in under two minutes. Every time. It’s just a matter of understanding the fundamental principles of the Rubik’s Cube and applying that understanding with dexterity.

Two minutes is impressive. Twelve seconds is amazing. And that’s how fast this Lego robot solves the cube.

Watch it in action.

Shirt of the Day: Rubiks Cubicle

Life in a cubicle can be a really colourful existence.

Celebrate that with this shirt.

This kid’ll go far…

I’m not a big fan of guitar hero – but solving a Rubiks Cube and playing while watching the TV in the mirror is pretty impressive.

Rubikcubism

Here’s a follow up to that Rubik’s Cube art post from the other day. It’s pretty incredible. According to the video this kind of artistic endeavour is called rubikcubism.

The video was in the original post – but something didn’t quite work and it’s worthy of its own post. Apologies if you’ve seen it already.

Blocktastic

I’ve written about Pacman, I’ve written about Rubiks Cubes, I’ve written about Super Mario Bros, and I’ve written about art. That’s a lot of topics to converge in a single post. But I’ve done it. Well, more correctly, somebody else has – I’m just here to show you the fruits of their labour. Art made from Rubiks Cubes… not just art… geek art. I would have thought a Tetris inspired design would be appropriate – but perhaps too easy…

Adventures in TV

We caught Lawrence Leung’s Choose Your Own Adventure last night on the ABC (post Gruen Transfer). It made me laugh until I cried. It’s Safranesque – and produced by the Chaser team.

If you missed it you can watch it here thanks to the magic of iView.

Very funny. I’ll never be able to pick up a copy of the Queensland Presbyterian newspaper, New Directions, again without catching subliminal messages.

One of my favourite bits was when his mum told him what he was doing (trying to track down the object of his grade 3 affections) was creepy.

Here’s the trailer. It uses lego. He’s also a Rubiks Cube master. And used that to get a girl’s phone number. Chicks dig guys with skillz.

Worth your salt

These Rubik’s Cube salt and pepper shakers are the perfect accessory for your multicoloured kitchen. Admit it. You’ve been waiting for me to post a stupid gadget all day – or since I posted the drinking cups with the peeing boy.

They’re just £11.99. Each. Here.
