I read some world-statistics book once (it was a few years ago now, when I was in highschool, so the stats could have changed now) that said in Switzerland, almost every household has a gun. Every man over 18 is forced to perform at least 2 years' military service, meaning that most households have not only guns but someone who knows how to use a gun properly. Switzerland also has/had one of the lowest violent crime rates in the world.
